The representation of architectural heritage: a process of knowledge-sharing between history and virtual reconstruction

The revolution in the communication and sharing of documentation that is sweeping through the fields of study related to cultural, architectural and archaeological heritage is taking shape in the formulation of innovative procedures, aimed at optimising and improving the communication and dissemination of knowledge through the use of 3D representation systems, through the creation of navigable models that can be measured and interrogated at the same time, and thanks to careful management of data and metadata related to the asset. Nowadays, the ways of preserving and disseminating memory, of sharing and communicating knowledge of the heritage are changing considerably, becoming integrated and shared documentation, no longer exclusive to certain fields or confined within isolated disciplinary areas. From the presentation of a review of some national and international projects, different solutions will be analysed for the study, representation and digitisation of Architectural and Cultural Heritage through the use of virtual models related to virtual reconstruction, to identify streamlined, applicable and replicable solutions on a large scale where the protagonists of the scene are both the artefact model and the data used for virtual reconstruction. The main objective of the proposed research is to promote collaboration between different disciplines and technologies, to have a shared environment, which contains digital models of the existing cultural heritage, available to scholars, professionals and the curious, where it is possible to represent the history of the property

The support of graphic representation for the analysis of the distribution and the preparation of temporary works in the post pandemic period

[EN] The spread of the Coronavirus19 has pushed the world community to re-evaluate the meaning of "normality", introducing new concepts in their daily habits, such as social distancing, use of personal protective equipment, implementation and introduction of temporary works. Thus defining a #newnormal, which has inevitably translated into the need to redesign and re-adapt the environments usually dedicated to sociality, work and education. Hence the need to introduce a tool capable of supporting the actors involved in the adaptation of environments in the operational phases, to introduce codes and methods of representation suitable for proper communication.  It will be possible to represent the above, through the presentation of a case study of school building proposing a useful tool for the design and adaptation of existing buildings, through the introduction of temporary works and structures, elements of communication and sizing of the areas. The author would like to thank for the collaboration and for the materials made available to the school manager Prof.ssa Claudia Torta and all the school staff of I.I.S. The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences

Intelligent Information Systems for the representation and management of the city. Urban survey and design for resilience.

Recent emergencies have triggered a series of proposals, revisions and regulatory updates. In Italy, as part of the Italian Decreto Rilancio, a proposal to introduce a compulsory building file seems to have been accepted. If this proposal is followed up, we could soon see the collection of a series of data and information on the building stock of our cities. This contribution defines a proposal for the organisation of this systematic collection, suitably supported by advanced IT tools, to make possible the start of a renewed season of monitoring, management, planning and development of more resilient buildings and cities. The proposed idea is to channel the information and data on individual buildings into a single database that can provide a comprehensive, unambiguous and multi-scalar picture of the urban system
